World Salsa Champions 2010 – Puerto Rico Salsa Open

Rafael Barros, 24, and Carine Mitchell, 27, are the world champions of salsa, won the title at the World Salsa Open 2010, held in Puerto Rico and bringing together the best professionals in Europe and the Americas. The win puts Brazil in the center of the Salsa world and makes the country an important reference for the dance hall.
With only two years of partnership, Rafael and Carine are distinguished by technique and musicality, but above all the harmony of their dance. Only between 2008 and 2010 Brazil won twice Salsa Open, played the national championship during the World Salsa Congress in Brazil. Also in 2009 were finalists in the World Salsa Open in his first appearance together in the world, having been chosen as the third best choreography competition. Also won the fifth edition of the traditional championship Rey Castro, São Paulo.

ADRIAN & ANITA

Anita was born in Parana Brazil; she began her career as a classical dancer after successful studies made in prestigious academies in Rio and London. She participated in famous ballet companies like the Kirov from Russia or the Ballet of Zaragoza, the only classical ballet of Spain, before discovering her true passion, Salsa.
Adrian was born in Montevideo Uruguay. He discovers Folk dances, Capoeira and Salsa in Latin America where he attends several regional competitions and TV shows. He arrives in Barcelona in 2003. He becomes a regular student of the major salsa icons of the moment. He joins the Imperio Azteca Dance group of Johnny Vasquez and he leaves this prestigious group after meeting Anita.
Adrian & Anita have a successfull story from the beginning of their career as a couple. Champions of Spain in 2004, of Sweden in 2005, of Spain again in 2006, sub champions of Puerto Rico in 2006 and champions of Puerto Rico in 2007 and 2008, this last World Salsa Open is considered by many as the World Championships. They are part of the Staff of the popular Spanish TV Reality Show “Mira Quien Baila” where they share prime time with world level stars.
They founded their Salsa school in Barcelona and give lessons around the world. Speciality : Los Angeles Style, a clean, funny and elegant dance style enhancing fast couple moves and original footwork.

Swing World Champions, they are the promoters of a new salsa style called “SalsaSwing”, where sexy movements are mixed with swing and lindy acro elements.They made a huge impact in their first appearance at the Puerto Rico Salsa Congress in 2004, After that Los Angeles, NewYork/New Jersey, London, Switzerland, Milan, Portugal, Paris, Tampere, Rome, Madrid, Chicago and many more of the most important salsa and swing Congresses in the World.
They have used their knowledge of Jazz, Tap, Swing, Acro, Classic, Latin, Hip Hop to create a new Style based on the concept the music give you all the informations about Style, Choreography and right Interpretation. So if you know different dances you have more possibilities to follow the music rhythm variations.
Their classes are a mix of power and sensuality at the same time, classic technique combined with energy, fantasy and a unique capacity to follow the music with spectacular improvisations
LOS PAMBOS - PAMBOS & MARIA

Maria starts to dance on the age of 7 with standard and latin american sport dances (ballroom and latin). Together with Pambos she obtains class B. Aside from the standard dances Maria studies also rock and roll, ballet, and Bulgarian folk dances.
Pambos starts dancing at 10 learning Greek and Cyprus folk dances,then specializes in Jazz balet, Flamenco, latin and social dances (Salsa) .
At the age of 16 Maria discovers the Salsa and together with Pambos they continue their dancing career shaping themselves in Salsa. They appear the two of them or with their grup “Los Pambos” in many advertisement and sound track clips, show and TV programs as performes, choreographers and judges – “Black Dalia”,”Dance with me 1″ and “Dance with me 2″, “Dancing with the stars” , parties, cocktails and salsa festivals world wide- in London, Marseille, Zurrich, Prague, Milan, Rome, Hamburg, Berlin, Geneva, Paris, Athens, Vienna, Istanbul, Thessaloniki, Bukurest, Konstantza, Cannes, Besancon, Monaco, Washington, LA, Miami, New York.
Antonis & Hara

They have participated in many Salsa Festivals in Greece, Bulgaria, Germany, Spain, Chezch Republic, Cyprus, Romania, Turkey etc. They have been a dancing couple for the past 6 years starting from Ballroom Dancing taking part in national competitions. For the past 4 years they teach salsa L.A. style together in Volos and Larisa and also give seminars in other Greek cities such as Thessaloniki, Ioannina, Florina, Xanthi, Chania ,Chalkida etc.

Dj Michael El Salsabroso
Probably the most loved DJs from the local landscape, began to mix 4 years ago at parties. Then he became known for Sunday evenings in Salsa 3, which got him to mix in a series of national events in Bucharest, Constanta, Brasov, Cluj-Napoca and Timisoara, but also international (Balkan Salsa Congress).
After a break of almost a year, he returned to the spotlight as a resident DJ in the best salsa club in Bucharest (Salsa For You), bringing every night a bit of Latin American flavor in the hearts of the dancers.
From El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico to Charanga Habanera, from Tito Puente to Willie Colon and Hector Lavoe, from Los Van Van to Wayne Gorby, salsa is not a secret for him anymore.

Dj Tazz
Started DJ’ing Funk music in the early 90′s as the youngest (13 years old) radio producer in one of the most famous radio stations in Greece, ANT1 RADIO in the city of Xanthi. A few years later he moved to Thessaloniki for studies and continued DJ’ing Funk, Groove, Soul and Hip-Hop music in bars and clubs.

Met the area of Latin music 8 years ago, when he traveled to Latin America, and this gave him the impulse to collect the music of the Latin American culture.
In 2005 he started playing music in the first Latin bar of Thessaloniki as well as in many salsa events all over Greece.
In 2007, Dj Tazz decided to begin a music journey with Salsa music.
Since he fall in love with the music, scene and mood of Salsa and having also the experience from other types of music, he play Salsa, Mambo, Cha Cha Cha, Bachata, Reggaeton, Kizomba and more and he is constantly able to keep the dance floor full.
He has participated in many Salsa Festivals and events in Greece, Bulgaria, Germany, Spain, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Romania, Italy etc.
DJ Mauri

DJ Mauri is recognized as one of the leading and most requested salsa DJs in Europe’s enormous salsa community. His DJ-career began in 1996 where he was requested to substitute for the resident DJ of a small café in Amsterdam. Since then, his DJ career has sky rocketed to include being the head DJ of some of the biggest-salsa parties in Holland, the resident DJ of various congresses across Europe, and the compilation of various salsa CD’s.
DJ Mauri is the Resident DJ of two of the biggest monthly salsa parties in Holland; The Salsa Lounge in Amsterdam and The Salsaventura Show Party in The Hague. He is often asked to oversee parties and concerts when prominent salsa artists are visiting Holland and has DJ-ed next to bands such as Los Van Van, Manolito y Su Trabuco, Jimmy Bosch, Eddie Palmieri, El Gran Combo, Los Soneros del Barrio and many others.
DJ Mauri’s style varies from New York Salsa-Dura to Cuban Timba and 50′s and 60′s Mambo but he is equally comfortable playing other genres. His signature is his amazing ability to read the crowd, knowing when to play the right salsa grooves and when to switch it up to other genres to keep the crowd pleased and entertained. He is a favourite among event organizers, dancers and music-lovers for his talents as a DJ, his integrity with his work and his sociability.
